Last year a Texarkana Sunrise Rotarian brought a concern to the club. She had stopped to assist an elderly gentleman walking into his home. Upon regular visits delivering food and other items she discovered he did not have a sink in his kitchen. This fits the Habitat for Humanity Repair Program, and the request was taken to Habitat.  Habitat for Humanity of Texarkana applied for a grant to install a sink, and to add running water. The gentleman was born and raised in the home without running water in the kitchen, he didn't know any different. With the grant, he also received a walk in shower, new ADA toilet, new heat and air units, new counter top, and a new porch.  Texarkana Sunrise continued the project by scraping off the old paint, priming, then painting the exterior of the home and porch.

According to Nash Mayor Robert Bunch, " Mr. Allen was very grateful and appreciative of the painting of his home and porch." "He said, I can not remember how long it's been since it looked this good".  He was feeling better and got outside to look at the new paint job.  Thanks to Sunrise Rotary and Habitat for Humanity of Texarkana for a great project for a Nash Resident in need.
