Interact is a service-based club for young people between the ages of 13 and 18. Interact clubs give young people the opportunity to serve their community with meaningful projects, meet new friends, and have fun! Their goals include: developing leadership skills, person integrity, respect for others and ourselves, understanding the value of hard work and service, and fostering fellowship and goodwill throughout the community. Interact Clubs meet these goals by being self-governing and self-supporting. The students have to find ways to fundraiser and plan to ensure their service projects succeeds and has a positive impact on the community. However, they do have some help! Rotarians from local Rotary Clubs mentor Interactors by offering guidance, and donating resources to service projects that clubs take on!

The Interact Club of Marshall had its first meeting November 13, 2017. Since then the Club has strived to adhere to our motto of “Service above Self”. They met with the Humane Society and began to volunteer at the organization, donated 84 pounds of food to Mission Marshall for World Interact Week.  Also on Saturday, December 16th they went out to Heritage House and decorated the doors of the residents for Christmas. Six students, Ilse Torres, Bianca Hernandez, Samantha Reeves, Learondra Reese, Dante Enrriquez, and Dakota Epps, along with the Marshall Rotary Club president, Louraiseal McDonald, Vivian Lewis, Marshall Rotarian and Marshall High School sponsor, Marilyn Anderson went hall to hall greeting residents with gifts bags, and decorated their doors with small ornaments, bows, and wrapping paper.

The Club wants to give a special thanks to Pet Place for allowing us the opportunity to volunteer at the facility, and to help animals in need, something the Club is passionate about.

The Club would also like to thank the Rotary Club District 5830, La Quinta Inn, Hampton Inn, and Comfort Suites for donating supplies to the club for our Heritage House service project.

Lastly, They would like to thank their sponsors, Marilyn Anderson and Stacy Adams, for mentoring the club and giving the students a chance to create something that can allow us to give back to our community.
