It’s great to be back with y’all after a truly superb Rotary International Convention in Melbourne, Australia followed by a unique opportunity to experience the Outback with new as well as old friends traveling with our IFFR (Flying Rotarians) Rotary Fellowship.
Returning from a uniquely “Rotary” experience during which we as IFFR members were able to find and assess a current need for assistance to citizens of Mildura undergoing Radiation Cancer Therapy Treatments as a result of efforts of a local sponsoring Rotary Club, Rotary Club of Mildura Deakin, making a new radiology facility available.

I was brought back to reality finding that another favorite charity of mine was being besieged by calls over the use of a fundraiser now deemed inappropriate by some groups. That fundraiser is the primary fundraiser for hospitals for children.

Rotarians, change is constant.  What we have here is fleeting and now our time to preserve that which is good. Now is our time to effect needed change. If you believe a project or cause is worthy of support, speak up! Support it. The time to advance that project is now.

Failing to take the action that you can may leave the dismal news that what you almost achieved is now deemed inappropriate by some groups and consigned to the dust bin of history.

The funds are here this year for you to take action partnering through The Rotary Foundation due to planning and giving 3 years ago. What happens 3 years from now depends on you and your generosity this year.

The reason for spending time on what many view as already accomplished is to be certain that the end is attained. And the reason for public image and publicity is to make certain that no one forgets the importance of our effort and why.

The future is yours. It’s time for all of us to get busy!

Yours in Rotary Service,
