Many Fire and Police Officers were honored during the event; however, Texarkana, Texas Fire Department honored 12 Department Heads, Driver/Engineers and Firefighters who volunteered to deploy to the Gulf Coast in August 2017.  With almost 200 years of experience between them, this group say it was an experience they will never forget but would gladly do it again if needed.  The resilience of the people displaced by Hurricane Harvey and outpouring of support while down a the gulf coast were testaments that they made the right decision to go help.
