AAAACHOOO!  It must be SPRING! And, if it’s spring, it’s SPRING TRAINING TIME. Right now, Major League Baseball teams all across the country are attending Spring Training. Even the Texas Rangers are hard at work training for the upcoming season.

But “Why?” you say… “Why do the Rangers need to train? They’re the World Champions, right?”
Yes, even winning teams must continuously train to remain at the top of their game and achieve their goals moving forward. Just like them, Rotary Clubs must diligently train their members for the season ahead. Your President-Elects are busy training for 2024-25, and as members of the team, each of you must train. Even if you’re not officially an officer of your club for 24-25, your club is only as strong as its weakest member. Don’t be that weak member. Rotary is constantly changing, so even veteran members must train in order to grow their skills, learn new ideas, and stay sharp. The rookie members will follow your example, so show them how important it is to continue training through in-person seminars and conferences.

I also want to encourage every member to strengthen important skills and your knowledge through the Rotary Learning Center at my.rotary.org. It’s important that every Rotarian understand what the Foundation does and how the club supports Rotary’s Flagship programs such as PolioPlus and Rotary’s Youth Programs. You’ll not only grow your confidence and skill mastery, but you’ll also be able to share Rotary’s message more effectively and grow your club’s membership.

Every club member’s Spring Training plan should include these important events—
  • If you are President-Elect or President Nominee and want a Detail-Rich understanding of your role for 2024-25, register immediately for the Local President Elect Training Seminar taking place on April 13 in Mount Pleasant. This focused training is so essential for rookie Rotarians, and is FREE.
  • Register for the Joint District Conference in Durant, Oklahoma, April 26-28. This event is open to ALL Rotarians, spouse/partners, and families. Our Foundation Dinner Celebration will be held on Saturday, so plan to be there. Time in meetings will be short to enable everyone to enjoy the resort and the activities in the surrounding area. This event will give you a renewed enthusiasm for Rotary.
  • Everyone needs to plan to attend District Training on May 18 in Mineola. This is recommended for all Rotary club members, not just incoming Officers. All attendees will learn something, and the rookie club members should definitely plan to attend.
  • Take your training to the Professional Level by attending the ROTARY INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION in SINGAPORE, May 25-29. This is the World Series event of the year, and it has the ability to transform you as a Rotarian.

Go into spring and your Spring Training determined to be an even better Rotarian and better club than you were last season. Be a world champion!
