Happy New Year! 2024 is here. A fresh start and endless possibilities. How many of you made resolutions for 2024? Some of my 2024 resolutions are reruns from 2023! I did achieve a few of my 2023 goals, and I realized that those were the ones where I’d gone beyond hoping, and actually made a PLAN. Funny how that works!
I have a request for you all—as you make your new year’s resolutions-- ask yourself, “What kind of Rotarian do I want to be this year?”. Your answer will guide your plan. If you’re going to be an officer in your club this July 1st, then your resolutions could include going to the RI Learning Center, and should definitely include attending the District Training Assembly. President-Elects and Nominees should be getting registered for Lone Star President-Elects Training right away, since your District will pay you back the Early-Bird fee.

Is it your goal this year to give more to the Foundation and PolioPlus? Then take advantage of the upcoming Matching Points Campaign. Why not make giving easy by signing up for automatic Direct giving?

I hope all of you resolve to invite someone to join you at your club meeting soon. Invite them over and over until they come just to shut you up. Let them discover the joy of being a Rotarian because of you.

And I urge all of you to resolve to be more engaged in your clubs. Volunteer before being asked, and say Yes when you are. Wear your Rotary pin every day, if allowed, and be ready with your “elevator speech” when asked “What’s Rotary?”.  Be as eager to bring up Rotary and what your club is doing as we are about our favorite sports teams, our grandkids, and the dog.

Happy New Year, District 5830! Saying “yes” to serving as your District Governor and getting to visit your clubs was the best resolution I’ve ever made!
