September was another busy, busy month for everyone - - - sport activities, marching bands, and TONS of school stuff for all - - - - as well as WORK and HOME activities.
In September, I visited Carthage, Cedar Creek Lake, Mineola, Leaders in Service, Sulphur Springs and Clarksville Rotary Clubs. I continue to be amazed at the comradery, energy, openness and Rotarian Spirit of our District 5830 Rotary Clubs! All the clubs that I have visited have worked hard to elect club officers, establish 2024-2025 goals, plan fund raising projects, and welcome me with wide open arms! Many thanks to all the visited clubs - - - with 20 visits completed, I am essentially half way through the planned “initial round” of DG visits for 2024-2025.
I continue to end each club visit with a personal challenge:
- Expand Rotary locally and internationally
- Increase your Service to Others
- Leave a Lasting Legacy
Start where you are!
Use what you have!
Do what you can!
Rotary International’s Polio+ Campaign is in full swing. On Friday, September 27, over 60 District 5830 Rotarians (and a few guests) celebrated PDG Shirley Griffin’s birthday and honored her as a Polio Survivor and long-term Rotarian. Over $15,000 was raised for Rotary’s Polio+ campaign - - - many thanks to Carroll Greenwaldt for planning / coordinating the event with the support of our Champion Administrator Shirley Pinnix-Evans - - - also thanks to Tom DeWitt for the establishing the “celebration idea for Shirley Griffin”. Please remember to go on-line and help by giving to the Polio+ campaign.
PDG Ted Huffhines is leading the 2025 Rotary District 5830 Legacy Dinner planning committee. During September, a designated group of District 5830 Leaders met with Rotary International representatives to further develop plans and activities for April 26, 2025 event which will be held in Tyler, TX. More information will be shared in the coming months.
During September, our 2024-2025 Rotary Foundation Committee decided we needed to PUSH the planned Foundation Dinner to early 2025 but will continue with plans for the event to be held in Tyler, TX. The planning committee, which includes District 5830 Rotarians Terri Deike, Brandie Henderson, Pamela Walters, and Trudy Williams, is working with our District Administrator, Shirley Pinnix-Evans to make the 2024-2025 event a big success. District 5830 Assistant Governors are working with their assigned District 5830 Rotary Clubs to secure “silent auction” items for the dinner. District 5830 Past District Governors will be reaching out to individual, group, and company sponsors. Please watch your mail sources for a NEW “save the date” and associated Foundation Dinner plans.
Please remember - - - it is never too early to make plans and REGISTER for the 2025 Rotary International Convention which will be in Calgary, Canada June 21-25, 2025. We are ONE AWAY from achieving our “early registration goal” - - - please remember to sign up before year’s end to receive a registration discount. If you’ve never been to a Rotary International Convention, the 2025 Canada event would be a great time to expand your horizon and see how Rotarians from around the world SERVE SERVE SERVE!
Thanks for allowing me to SERVE as your DG for 2024-2025
