DID you see that train? During the 2023-2024 Rotary year, immediate PDG Karen Maines utilized the Rotary International Theme: “Create Hope in the World” to energize and grow the vision of Rotary in District 5830. Last month, Karen asked “are we there yet”?? We can all agree that we aren’t “there yet”, but we are so much closer because of the leadership of Karen, the District 5830 Assistant Governors, District Administrator Shirley Pinnix-Evans, and the many Rotarians of our district. MANY THANKS to Karen and her team!At Rotary International’s May 2024 meeting in Singapore, Rotary International President Stephanie A. Urchick introduced the 2024-2025 Theme: “The Magic of Rotary”! RI President Urchick stated, “Rotary is at its best when we foster a sense of inclusion and belonging in our clubs. In fact, I would go so far to say that belonging is the Magic of Rotary”.
During the 2024-2025 Rotary year, over 1.4 million Rotarians will continue to grow the Magic of Rotary and serve the world by addressing and implementing FOUR International Goals:
- Priority 1: Increase Our Impact
- Priority 2: Expand Our Reach
- Priority 3: Enhance Participant Engagement
- Priority 4: Increase our Ability to Adapt
In addition to the on-going RI International Goals, RI President Urchick challenged ALL Rotary Districts (including our own 5830) to:
- Establish Four NEW Rotary Clubs in each District
- Add 100 NEW Rotarians to each District’s Total Membership
For District 5830 we have built on the strong Rotary service efforts of the previous PDG’s and have modified our District goals to ensure alignment with RI President Urchick’s International Goals. The 2024-2025 District 5830 Goals include:
- Engage and Retain Club Membership
- Expand Club Membership to Include ALL Groups
- Complete and Integrate Club Visioning
- Per Capita Giving of $150 to Annual Fund AND $50 to PolioPlus
- Club Participation in ALL District Training Events
- Make Sure ALL Rotary Logos are Compliant with RI Branding
- Support Local, District, Zone, and International Projects
- Increase Involvement in Youth Exchanges, Interact & RYLA Programs
We have established/posted a “planned schedule” to meet with each of our District 5830 clubs. Please let Shirley know of any conflicts or needed changes.
I am excited about the opportunities to serve and to give back more to others. 2024-2025 will be a year that we talk more and more about “making a difference” and leaving a Legacy for Rotary - - - more to come during our site visits AND upcoming District Conference, Foundation Meeting, and Workshops (all DATES will be posted in the “my Rotary” web pages for District 5830.
