April calls us to reflect on our role as stewards of the world around us. Through Rotary’s focus on Environmental Sustainability, we are reminded that our service extends beyond today—it shapes the future.Across District 5830, clubs are actively engaging in projects that protect, preserve, and improve our communities. Whether through local initiatives or global impact, this is Rotary at its best—People of Action creating lasting change.
A Season of Renewal – Easter Reflections
As we celebrate Easter, we are reminded of renewal, hope, and new beginnings.
These same principles guide our work as Rotarians. Each project we lead, each person we serve, and each community we strengthen reflects the power of renewal through service.
I encourage you to spend meaningful time with your families this season and reflect on the impact you are making.

Honoring Our Legacy – The Iron Lung Restoration
One of the most meaningful moments this month was the refurbishment of our district’s historic iron lung—a powerful symbol of Rotary’s unwavering commitment to eradicating polio. This restoration reminds us of a time when iron lungs were often the only means of survival for those affected by polio—and how far we have come through Rotary’s global efforts.

A special recognition and heartfelt thanks to:
- Smith Tank & Equipment Co. (led by Rotarian and Tyler’s Sargent of Arms, Jim Blair)
- 3P Industries
- Gillespie Coatings
- All additional partners and contributors who supported this effort
Because of their work, this important piece of history has been preserved and will be available for display at future District 5830 events, serving as a tangible reminder of why we continue the fight to end polio.
This is more than restoration—it is a legacy of service, perseverance, and hope.
