Mt. Pleasant Rotary Club hosted the 2017 Four Way Speech and Video Contests on April 1st. Rotarian Amy Hinton chaired the event and did a superb job organizing the facility, food and contest flow. She was ably backed by a host of club members. Thanks to the Mt. Pleasant ISD and Rotarian Judd Marshall, Superintendent, for allowing the use of their very spacious Administration Building.
There were speech contestants from sixteen clubs vying for District awards of $1,000, $750 and $500 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. First Place went to Mt. Pleasant's own Kendal Heavner, who was asked to reprise her speech for all the contestants and guests at lunch. Second Place winner was Melody Shannon, sponsored by Paris United. Taylor Sexton won the Third Place award and was sponsored by Texarkana Wilbur Smith. All three received plaques commemorating their wins.

Two videos were submitted from two clubs. One was unfortunately disqualified for being too short. The winning video was submitted by Kenisha Harmon, sponsored by the Rotary Club of South Tyler.

Thanks to all the Mt. Pleasant members for their support, the clubs for hosting local speech and video contests, Rotarians who drove the contestants, parents and family members who came and backed their students, and, especially the speech and video contestants for their preparation, practice and presentation of the contest theme concentrated around the Rotary Four Way Test.
